Skiing Holidays – What About the Children?
Many parents give up their much enjoyed skiing holidays when their children are small – but you don’t have to! A skiing holiday is a great family holiday, fun for everyone… but that’s if childcare isn’t a problem.
Excellent childcare options are often available in ski resorts, offering quality, flexibility and reliability. Private nanny services offer the best flexibility, but it’s important to check that the nannies are trained, CRB checked etc.
Nannies based at the ski resort
The great advantages is that the nannies are based in the resort. So they know the resorts, best places to go etc. The nannies should know where to take the children for a great time in the fresh mountain air with the best sledging, snowman building, etc.
When they’re tired, your Nanny would be able to take the children back to your apartment / hotel / chalet for a nap, fun and games indoors, story time, arts and crafts and some companies offer little extras. Why not get the children to produce a fantastic scrapbook throughout the week to take back and show teachers, friends and other families!

When going through a pile of feedback forms from the 2010/11 winter season the most visable words are
"EXCELLENT" "VERY GOOD" "FANTASTIC" "BRILLIANT"
You couldn't ask for better feedback or indeed a better recommendation than that. So when you have your holiday to Les Deux Alpes all booked up why not visit our ski school site and book your lessons in advance as well? We can even organise your liftpass in a package with group lessons! What could be easier!
Should you prefer private lessons, no problem at all these can also be booked in advance and you can request our very own English, and of course English speaking girl instructor.......Alexandra Chapman, she will ensure you learn loads and have an amazing time on the snow!
So next question what to do with the children?......this is no problem at all, we take children from 4 years old in the kindergarden and recommend Snow Angel Nannies for younger children and even older children that don't want to ski all day! Snow Angel Nannies is a private nanny service that will come to your chalet/apartment/hotel and care for the children based there. Ski school pick up and drop off is no problem, they will take the children out and about to enjoy the winter wonderland Les Deux Alpes is sledging, snowman building, treasure hunting and with your permission even a chocolate crepe! Skiing holidays can be a huge success for families
Skiing holidays can be a huge success for families with children of all ages. Careful planning is necessary however to ensure that everyone has a good time and that parents holidays are not ruined by anxieties about childcare. The ideal solution is a personal family nanny, and in some resorts it is no longer necessary to take your own as local organisations such as Snow Angel Nannies in Les Deux Alps, Alpe d'Huez, La Tania, Courchevel, Meribel and Tignes will supply a suitably qualified nanny.
Having a private nanny to look after a baby means that parents can ski with easy minds. Nannies should be qualified and CRB checked and should also have a first aid qualification. The nanny will also be able to bring the baby to meet up with parents in a suitable cafe at the bottom of the slopes so that the family have extra time together and parents can reassured that all is well with the baby.
Toddlers are also best entertained by a nanny who can give them plenty of individual attention. The nanny can take your toddler out to play in the snow for as long as suits that child: they do not have to fit in with the activities planned for a group which can result in one child being cold and fed up before the session ends, whilst another had to come in before he'd finished having fun!
Older children can be dressed up for ski school, delivered there, and fetched at the end of the session by their nanny. This solves the problem of different ski school times for adults and children or time limited parental skiing. What a lovely email....Matt, Liz, Chris and Sarah I"ll be looking forward to seeing you again next winter!!!!
"Not enough people these days give good feedback so I wanted to thank and congratulate you.
We booked online and booking in at the ski school office in Les Deux Alpes on arrival was easy, efficient and pleasant.
There were four in our party and we all booked on level 1 snowboarding in a private lesson. We were allocated Alex as our instructor and one of our lesson times was changed to ensure we were with Alex for all three days which I found very thoughtful.
Alex was an excellent excellent instructor and I would certainly recommend her to anyone else be they boarders or skiers as I know she does both. She was patient and we were all at slightly different levels, (unbeknnown to us) made the lessons fun and pushed us to do better and better.
If we revisit L2A we'll be booking back with Alex! (Not sure whether she'd be happy to see us again through!!)
